HOW THE INFRARED SAUNA WORKS

     At Cryotherapy Jax, our Clearlight Infrared Sauna works by using infrared wavelengths of light to heat the body itself, rather than heating the space around it like traditional saunas do. There are three wavelengths of heat—short, medium, and "far". Far is the most intense form of heat. The heat vibrates water molecules in the body so much that the molecules break down. The result, according to supporters*, is a healthy release of toxins that the body sweats out. Athletes also rely on this as a form of therapy for strength and endurance training.

     To heat the body, Infrared saunas use heaters that emit the same type of rays that sunlight does, but without harmful UV rays. Traditional saunas rely on hot coals to heat up a room at an average of 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

     Infrared temperatures range from 110 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit rather than the conventional 160 degrees Fahrenheit. This is why an infrared sauna is cozy and dry, not sweltering and musty like a regular health club sauna.

     When you sweat in a traditional high heat sauna, you are sweating out water molecules that contain only about 3-5% of toxins from the body. At Cryotherapy Jax, our Clearlight Infrared Sauna heats the body at a lower temperature that helps to eliminate fat based sweat that comes from your sebaceous glands. We store toxins in the fat in our bodies, so infrared sweat has about 18-20% toxins.   You get much more benefit from a lower temperature fat based sweat. 

 

      In an infrared sauna, it is the infrared waves making you sweat, not the hot air. That is the difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna.  Far Infrared Rays

     Far infrared has the longest frequency and can penetrate deep into human tissue. Far infrared waves increase the body’s core temperature resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat from the cellular level of the skin where many toxins are housed. This is optimal for detoxificationweight loss, and blood pressure reduction. It penetrates the fat cells, causing vasodilation, where the fat cells vibrate to expel toxins aiding in weight-loss.  

 

Mid Infrared Rays

     Mid infrared wavelengths are mid-range and are beneficial for increasing circulation that mirrors the benefits of a passive cardiovascular workout. Sauna Weight Loss Studies

     A two-phase, sauna weight loss study conducted by Binghamton University in New York revealed that an increase in core body temperature resulted in a decrease in body fat. It concluded that people who used a ClearlightTM infrared sauna three times a week for 30 minutes per session dropped an average of 4 percent body fat over a four-month period. For a 175-pound man, that represents a weight reduction of seven pounds.

Participants who experienced infrared sauna weight loss did not change their exercise or diet patterns during the study. Control groups in the study who did not use the Clearlight Sauna® showed no drop in weight. The study findings illustrate the significant boost that infrared therapy provides for our weight loss goals.

Green

In a more practical sense, green affects blood pressure and all conditions of the heart. Having both an energizing effect, moderating, or soothing effect. Green can help heal many illnesses of this nature, specifically including heart troubles, decreasing and stabilizing blood pressure, ulcers, cancer, headaches, nervous disorders and influenza, and acts as a general tonic.

Blue

     Blue on the other hand, is at the opposite end of the visible spectrum. Blue can be used for any type of ailments associated with speech, communication, or the throat. This is a mentally relaxing color. Blue has a pacifying effect on the nervous system encouraging great relaxation. It is ideal for sleep problems. Blue light connects us to holistic thought, and gives us wisdom and clarity enhancing communication and speech. Relaxing, soothing blue rays bring great calm and peace to the mind that is worried, excited, or in a constant nervous state. It is a very positive color, indicating loyalty and reliability, as expressed in the sentiment of being “true blue.”

Orange

     Orange has a freeing action upon the mind, relieving repression. Because orange is a blend of red and yellow, it combines physical energy with mental wisdom, inducing a transformation between lower physical reaction and higher mental response. Thus, it is often referred to as “The Wisdom Ray.” Orange is warm, cheering, and non-constricting. Through orange, we are able to heal the physical body (red) and, at the same time, induce within the mind (yellow) greater understanding. Orange helps assimilate new ideas. Orange is the best emotional stimulant, helping to remove inhibitions paving independent social behavior. Bring joy to your workday and strengthen your appetite for life. Orange aids in repairing inflammation of the kidneys, gallstones, menstrual cramps, epilepsy, wet cough and all sinus conditions.

 

Violet

     Violet is the last color we can see before light passes on to ultra-violet. This color is an excellent remedy for neurosis, diseases of the scalp, sciatica, tumors, rheumatism, cerebral-spinal meningitis, concussion, cramps and epilepsy. Violet animates and cleans the venous blood. It is generally not used for physical conditions; however, some color experts believe that it does provide nourishment to the cells in the upper brain. Violet purifies our thoughts and feelings giving us inspiration in all undertakings. The violet energy connects us to our spiritual
self bringing guidance, wisdom and inner strength, and enhances artistic talent and creativity. Leonardo da Vinci proclaimed that you can increase the power of meditation ten fold by meditating under the gentle rays of violet, as found in church windows.

​     Light therapy uses colors for their proposed healing abilities in treating emotional and physical disturbances. Light therapy is based on the premise that different colors evoke different responses in people. For example, some colors are considered to be stimulating, whereas others may be soothing.
